Over The Moon
Over the Moon brings The Rose Garden Trilogy to its final installment, following the events of A Moment of Bliss. Moon's business manager arranges for her father to write songs for Madds Medusa, putting the estranged pair together for a week. Her career gives them a practical reason to cooperate, but years of resentment make even that arrangement difficult.
The early chapters give Moon enough conflicting feelings to make the reunion engaging. She has ambitions of her own, an uneasy relationship with her manager, and little patience for her father. The attractive character models are another consistent draw, with animated sequences and occasional changes of viewpoint adding to the presentation. Android technology and virtual reality remain part of the setting, alongside returning characters whose stories continue from the previous games.
The ending is the most divisive part. Some readers appreciate seeing the trilogy reach a resolution, while others find the final developments abrupt and several character arcs underused. The story offers choices around individual encounters rather than extensive branching. Familiarity with the earlier installments adds context, although some players have enjoyed it on its own. Moon's initial characterization makes the rushed finish particularly frustrating for those who become invested in her story.
