Strange App
The app looks sweet enough: soft colors, relaxing music, and a little puzzle to pass the time. Nathan sends it to his friends, unaware that Professor Tanaka built it to study and alter its users. Strange App follows the experiment as the app learns what each person wants and begins nudging those wants in a new direction.
Each playthrough opens with a coin flip that decides whether the Besties or the Home Squad get involved first. The other group can still be reached later. The cast and adult scenes carry much of the appeal, with the mind control effects growing more apparent as the nights pass.
Players looking for decisions that change the experiment will find little to do beyond advancing the text. There is no substantial puzzle gameplay, and the routine of reading, viewing a scene, and moving to the next day becomes repetitive. For a quick VN built around watching the app’s influence spread, it gets to its premise without much fuss.
