In for a Penny
In for a Penny starts with a man waking up in a strange situation and learning what the Overseers expect of him: charm an entire town of women. That alone would be enough for a ridiculous harem story, but the setting has more going on. Some residents welcome him, others have plans of their own, and questions about the town gradually lead into much larger sci-fi trouble.
I like that the protagonist doesn't immediately treat his mission as the best thing that's ever happened to him. His reluctance gives the comedy something to push against, and the huge cast supplies plenty of clashing personalities. Sister Anne is a standout if you enjoy characters who make every scene louder. There are hours of story and adult encounters here, though this is essentially a kinetic novel with little route choice or replay value.
It needs a firm editing pass. Typos are common, some conversations keep circling after they've made their point, and so many characters arrive that a few become difficult to place. The animations improve over time but begin stiffly, while dark lighting obscures some renders. If you can put up with those rough spots, the oddball humor and expanding mystery make it more entertaining than its one-sentence premise might suggest.
