HS Tutor
HS Tutor has grown far beyond its original premise of a broke would-be college student making money through tutoring. At this point, the real attraction is the enormous web of character routes built around Robert's daily movement through the city. Angela, Pamela, Zoe, Mila, Ursula, Garnet, Roxanne, Jasmine, Scarlett, Charlotte, Amelia, Madeline, Rachel, Kelly, Claire, Dorothy, Helena, Eva, Megan, Sophia, Jennifer, Melissa and many others all appear across individual and overlapping storylines, making this one of those games where the character list becomes a major part of the appeal.
Recent versions show how much the structure has expanded. Angela's route alone moves through story chapters, workouts, dinner, dating, a pool gathering with Madeline, Garnet, Pamela and Kelly, and a hot-springs event with Pamela and Mila. Pamela has her own sequence, while Ursula, Zoe and other characters continue to receive interconnected content. Roxanne has a finale plus school, studio and dating material; Scarlett develops through shogi, casual visits, swimming, a movie and restaurant dating; and Ursula's earlier updates included a full series of pool, school and date events.
The game frequently brings established characters together rather than isolating everyone into separate menus. Zoe and Mila recur as a pair in several updates, Pamela appears alongside multiple members of the cast, Madeline and Amelia share linked material, and older versions include events built around combinations such as Zoe, Mila and Dorothy or Garnet and Dorothy. That overlapping structure gives long-term progression more variety because unlocking a character can later affect events involving somebody else.
There is also a surprisingly large amount of repeatable content. The changelog repeatedly mentions repeatable variants for Mila, Roxanne, Jasmine, Ursula, Amelia, Madeline, Rachel, Garnet, Megan, Scarlett and others. Repeatable encounters often receive different poses, dialogue variations or alternate outcomes instead of simply replaying the exact same sequence. The gallery and hint systems have therefore become important quality-of-life tools, particularly for players returning after several updates who may not remember where a route stopped.
Beyond relationship progression, HS Tutor includes several lightweight gameplay ideas. Strip poker is one of the more recognizable examples and eventually received a repeatable version with three possible outcomes. Other routes use workouts, school tasks, photoshoots, dinners, woodland dates, hot springs, pool trips, nightclub visits and beach outings to break up the usual dialogue loop. City and school locations have been expanded over time, and map tags were added to make navigation less tedious.
The amount of production work behind later versions is also notable. Version 0.19 brought 513 new CGs and 65 animations, while version 0.13.5 listed 325 new images and 82 animations. Several updates add ten or more separate character events at once, and the developer has repeatedly gone back through old material to revise writing, correct scripts, repair missing triggers and improve event guidance. One older update even mentions roughly 8,000 lines of Claire's script being corrected by a native English speaker.
That history matters because HS Tutor is less about rushing toward one ending and more about gradually filling a very large event map. Different characters become available at different locations and times, story requirements can unlock later group encounters, and some routes require following smartphone or gallery hints before the next event appears. The developer has specifically updated event lists when essential progression scenes were too easy to miss, so newer builds are generally better at pointing you toward the next step than the earlier versions were.
Players looking for a compact linear VN may find the structure sprawling, but that is also its main strength. There is always another character chain to check, another repeatable encounter to unlock, or another old route that has gained an extension. Instead of one central heroine, HS Tutor is essentially a large interconnected collection of dating and character stories that have accumulated across years of updates.
How to Play: Move between the city, school and other unlocked locations, pay attention to days and times, check character event lists and hints when progression stalls, and keep multiple saves if you want to explore different event combinations without retracing the entire sandbox.
