Chilling Ridge
Chilling Ridge starts with a new farmer, a mountain town, and a witch offering help in exchange for favors. Before long, breeding monster people is part of keeping the place running. The farmer can meet the locals, recruit new monsters, and build relationships while working on the farm. Hot pixel guys and girls share the spotlight, and even the farmer gets some good looks to choose from. Dungeon trips add turn-based battles to the routine, though the game is still early enough that its breeding mechanics offer more to dig into than its story.
The artwork deserves the attention it gets. There is a good spread of guys and girls, and the pixel designs give plenty of reason to want another recruit. The monsters are very human-looking, though. Anyone expecting beasts or big muscular men should check the screenshots first; furry people are much closer to what the game delivers. Breeding them can help bring in more resources, which gives the farmer a practical excuse for the horny decisions.
The trouble starts when the game stops explaining itself. A quest needs something, but the way to get it is unclear. A shed keeps being built, with little indication of how long it should take. Recruiting can mean repeating the same basic battles until the right drop finally appears. The music and farm setting are cosy, but all that waiting gets old. Chilling Ridge has the breeding and hot pixel cast; it needs to spend less of the player's time making them wonder what the hell comes next.
