Bad Memories
Bad Memories is built around a protagonist who escaped a broken hometown, created a functional new life, and almost succeeded in turning childhood trauma into something distant and indistinct. The danger is not that those memories disappeared. It is that they may have been waiting for the right person or event to bring them back.
The past begins with the death of the protagonist's mother. A grieving father turns to alcohol, begins another relationship, and allows the family situation to spiral. The protagonist responds with anger, school trouble, fights, and repeated brushes with the law, but leaves after the father's death before crossing the line that might have made escape impossible. The present-day story explores whether leaving actually ended that chapter or only interrupted it.
Bad Memories lets you approach that history through a male or female protagonist. This is more than a cosmetic switch: updates document separate images, corrected dialogue, route-specific saves, and gallery support for both versions. Jada's relationship with the protagonist can also be personalized through an option controlling how she addresses the MC. Kat's latest scene is another example of route variation, with additional animation currently attached to the male path.
Key Features
- Trauma-driven mystery - revisit a childhood shaped by loss, addiction, family instability, and unresolved choices.
- Two protagonist perspectives - choose a male or female MC and see adjusted dialogue, images, and route content.
- Jada and Kat content - follow named characters whose scenes, forms of address, and presentation can respond to your route.
- Story-first updates - play through releases containing hundreds of renders, animated sequences, and revised older chapters.
- Route-sensitive progression - avoid incorrect scene triggers through conditions that have been repeatedly repaired and refined.
- Replay and customization tools - use the gallery, camera controls, font settings, textbox options, and naming preferences.
Jada and Kat provide practical examples of how the game continues to personalize its cast. Jada's chosen form of address can be changed whenever the player wants, allowing the relationship language to fit the selected route. Kat's newer material received extra renders and animations, while older scenes across the project were reworked to improve continuity and presentation.
The male and female paths have required separate technical support throughout development. Earlier releases added the female protagonist, corrected male dialogue appearing in the wrong route, restored missing female images, and changed how route saves are named. Later gallery updates made it possible to revisit content from both perspectives after unlocking it naturally.
Bad Memories also pays attention to readability and presentation. Players can increase font size, adjust line spacing, hide the textbox, change camera views, and use revised room or map labels. Menu layouts and sound settings have been reworked several times, while Android fixes address image compression, animation playback, and interface scaling.
The subject matter is deliberately heavy. The supplied tags and overview establish grief, alcoholism, abuse, family conflict, and story-relevant assault as part of the narrative background. The most severe incidents are described as non-visualized, but they still shape the characters and may affect players sensitive to those topics.
The project is approaching version 1.0 but is not finished. Recent releases focus on gallery stability, route logic, missing renders, revised scenes, and final-release preparation. The developer has also warned that old saves may not remain compatible while the underlying code is being cleaned up, making fresh or separated save files the safest way to explore different paths.
