Antipoda
Antipoda follows a record-store and label co-owner through casual dating, old connections, and some very odd encounters. The girls have lives and preferences of their own, so showing interest doesn't guarantee that things will go your way. Your behavior can change their attitude, and a good evening together doesn't automatically become a committed relationship. Distinctive character designs and plenty of animated scenes give those encounters visual appeal, while the writing spends time on the flirting, uncertainty, and occasional awkwardness around them.
The appeal is getting to know these girls and working out whether you actually suit each other. Some routes, however, leave little middle ground: rejecting a particular preference or situation can end that girl's storyline. Conversations can also get repetitive, and the logic behind reaching certain endings isn't always obvious. Still, the cast feels varied, and the mix of everyday dating with surreal humor gives the game a personality of its own. If you enjoy a romance where the other person has a say in how things develop, there's a lot to like here. Different choices offer good reasons to revisit each chapter.
