House Chores
House Chores is a character-focused sandbox visual novel built around the routines of a summer spent at home. You play a young man whose days are divided between household tasks, shared hobbies, and conversations with a small recurring cast. Rather than moving straight from one story scene to the next, you explore between events and make progress through activities. The result is a blend of light life management and visual-novel storytelling, with a completed narrative for players who prefer a story they can finish.
Relationships expressed through activities
The cast's different interests give the progression its shape. Housework matters to one storyline, while gaming, tabletop activities, exercise, and relaxation appear elsewhere. These are useful distinctions because they make spending time with a character involve a particular routine, rather than only selecting another conversation from a menu. Mood changes and other progress feedback connect those activities to the larger story.
The rhythm of a small sandbox
Time and event conditions determine when you can continue a storyline. You move around the house, look for an available activity, and return when the relevant circumstances change. This adds a layer of participation between dialogue scenes, but it also makes the pace less direct than a linear visual novel. Some sessions revolve around arranging the next opportunity rather than receiving an immediate story payoff.
The compact environment helps keep that process understandable. Rooms become familiar, and prompts after events can point you toward further progress. At the same time, revisiting the same spaces is a substantial part of play. The strongest reason to accept that repetition is interest in the cast and their activities; exploration alone is unlikely to be enough if you are looking for a broad adventure map.
What the format offers

- Progress beyond dialogue - chores, mood, and abilities contribute to character-event advancement.
- A daily schedule - time conditions shape the order and availability of activities.
- 2D presentation - character artwork and animated sequences support the visual-novel scenes.
- A finished story - follow the main narrative through its conclusion and extra epilogue content.
