In First Date, you step into the shoes of a guy back in his hometown who reconnects with Sam, an adorably shy girl with a massive crush on him. The game is a very short, linear experience that transitions rapidly from sweet, slightly awkward dating into hardcore action. A major highlight is that the game is built around offering a top-tier trans/dickgirl love interest path (with a standard cis female option available for those who prefer it). The trans representation is handled naturally and immersively without feeling like a gimmick.
While the renders and Part 2 animations are surprisingly high quality, the game does have a few rough edges. It’s essentially a short demo or trial project, meaning you'll fly through it in under an hour. Because of the short runtime, the story pacing escalates almost instantly, and the writing suffers from a handful of grammar and spelling mistakes. The main character can also come off as a bit of a douchebag, which contrasts with Sam's sweet personality. Despite these flaws, the sheer passion from the developer shines through, making it a very enjoyable mini-VN.
