The protagonist has known this tropical island as home since he was nine. The women washed ashore after a storm see it rather differently. Bastard Chronicles: The Shipwreck puts them together to figure out how to survive, what the island is hiding, and whether anyone can leave.
That setup gives the game a fun change of scenery. Its cast looks good, especially the mature woman who stands out among the love interests, and little tasks such as spearing fish briefly get the player involved in island life. The mystery gives them something to pursue beyond their growing attraction.
The early chapters could let the characters catch their breath more often. Some reactions to the shipwreck feel oddly casual, relationships move at uneven speeds, and the sandbox adds navigation without much freedom yet. It is still a promising start for players drawn to the setting and cast, as long as they expect a story that is finding its footing.
