Artifice is a visually stunning, narrative-heavy visual novel ready to be played instantly in your browser on PC and mobile. You play as a dangerously competent protagonist searching for his brother, forcing him to navigate political intrigue, world leaders, and a mysterious faction. The game heavily utilizes a "story within a story" theater motif, giving it a very distinct, artsy flavor compared to standard VNs.
Because the game is still in early development, there’s a ton of setup happening. The renders are gorgeous and the MC is refreshingly intelligent (complete with a cool split-personality angle), but the sheer volume of dialogue can be overwhelming if you're just looking for quick action. The lewd scenes so far are decent but lack a bit of dynamic flair, and with a massive cast of girls introduced early on, it remains to be seen how deeply each route will be fleshed out.
If you lack patience, the intricate plot might lose you. But if you appreciate deep, masterclass world-building over mindless click-to-win gameplay, this is an absolute must-try that will suck you right in.
